Your Provisional Driving Licence
Before you can start your driving lessons you must obtain your UK provisional driving licence.
Without this document our driving instructors will not be allowed to take you out for a lesson nor can you sit your Theory or Practical exams.
Applying for a UK provisional licence takes approximately 2-3 weeks from the date of application and costs £50.00.
In order to apply for a UK provisional licence you must;
- be a resident of Great Britain
- meet the minimum age requirement (17 years old*, unless disabled**)
- meet the required eyesight (Click Here)
* You can apply for your licence 3 months before your 17th birthday.
** If you are getting the higher rate of mobility (DLA) you can learn to drive at 16.
You can apply for your licence online (Click Here) or the traditional method using the postal service. To apply using the postal service you will need to complete the D1 form available from your local post office or you can order the form from the DVLA ordering Service (Click Here).
Booking with DSBS without your provisional licence.
Our Customer Support Team will be able to book your first driving lesson without taking your provisional licence number, although you will need both parts of your provisional licence on the day of your first lesson otherwise the lesson cannot take place.
